The artical above recently appeared in one of the local news papers and maybe the best solution to overcome the height problem it to remove the bridge all together. Surely 40 people a day could cross Roe Highway quite safely at the lights.

The WAPVDA Inc is a Perth based organisation that is working for the betterment of all road pilots that operate primarily in Western Australia but also Australia wide. Association representatives liaise direct with government authorities and represent our members when sitting with the Main Roads WA Steering Committee.
For pilot related issues, free preliminary advice is available to all our members from the WAPVDA solicitor and if needed; further legal representation can be obtained after direct negotiation with our solicitor on his vastly discounted rates.
On joining the WAPVDA an Association card and key ring is issued together with an annual vehicle decal to verify your membership. A photo ID card has been introduced and is being issued for 2012 and there are also a couple of other advantages such as:
- Being able to purchase video cameras (to record all trips, bridge supervision, traffic conditions/offenses etc) cheaper than you are able to buy them direct from the supplier.
- Vastly discounted insurance premiums for not only personal liability insurance but coverage for your motor vehicle, comprehensive, third party and contents insurance as well. (Insurance coverage can not be obtained elsewhere outside the WAPVDA for the same comparable cover conditions and rates).
- Access to further unique discounts on a number of services across Australia. Some of these services include better than average discounts on tyres, fuel, vehicle repairs, meals and accommodation at certain outlets.
- With the introduction of the WA Code of Conduct looming in the near future, access to continued Association support with all problems (if any) encountered during the introduction period.
And you don't necessarily need to be an accredited pilot to obtain the advantages offered by the WAPVDA . . . . a number of transport drivers have joined us simply to support the transport industry and to enjoy the discounts the Association has obtained for its members. In addition; membership is not limited to WA pilots . . . . many eastern state pilots that find themselves in WA from time to time have also joined.
But to gain these extra savings and assistance you will need to join our Association first. This is easy . . . . print off the application form that is attached to this web site; complete the personal detail fields then either lodge this with us electronically or post to the address as shown. And for a low, tax deductable $55-00 your membership will be arranged. Or simply join us at one of our General Meetings. General Meetings are conducted at 7-30pm on the second Thursday of each alternative month (ie:- Feb, Apr, June, Aug & Oct) with the AGM being held in December. The venue is the Belmont Sports & Recreation Club at the corner of Keane Street & Abernathy Road, Cloverdale (Perth UBD Map 290: M-3) and you are more than welcome to join us anytime in a friendly atmosphere.
